In Matchday 5 of the TOPsport A Lyga, FC Hegelmann secured their fourth consecutive league victory with a 2:0 win over Džiugas Telšiai. Substitute Abdel Njoya scored two goals within five minutes.

Džiugas Telšiai entered the match following a defeat against FK Sūduva, while FC Hegelmann had recently triumphed over FK Riteriai. Džiugas manager Lipskis made two changes to the starting lineup, bringing in Oleksandr Kurtsev and Hirotaka Yamada. In contrast, Hegelmann’s manager, Andrius Skerla, opted to keep the same starting eleven.

Hegelmann aimed to continue their dominance over Džiugas, having previously beaten them three times out of four last season in the league. Throughout the match, Hegelmann displayed a more aggressive attacking style, while Džiugas focused on counter-attacks.

After a goalless first half, the second half brought excitement with two goals. In the 74th minute, Hegelmann took the lead with a set-piece goal. Following a corner kick, Lazar Kojic played the ball towards the center, where substitute Abdel Njoya executed a stunning bicycle kick to score.

Just five minutes later, Hegelmann struck again from another set-piece. Leo Ribeiro delivered a precise ball into the box that found Njoya, who headed it in for his second goal of the match, sealing Hegelmann’s win.

With this victory, Hegelmann moved to the top of the table with 12 points after five games, tied with Sūduva on points. Conversely, Džiugas, who had won two matches in a row before the international break, now experienced their second consecutive defeat.

Džiugas will look to bounce back in their next match on Saturday against FK Paņevežys, while Hegelmann will host DFK Dainava Alytus on the same day.
