In the Czech Chance Liga, Artūr Dolžnikov scored his first goal for his new club, Sigma Olomouc, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 1-2 defeat against Karvina.
The 24-year-old Lithuanian winger joined Sigma Olomouc during the winter transfer window, and his start to the campaign in Czechia has been challenging. He made two appearances in the Czech top flight, but since February 15th, he has not played for the first team; instead, he has participated in a few matches for the reserve team.
Today, the manager decided to give Dolžnikov the opportunity to start, and he did not disappoint. Karvina took the lead in the 15th minute of the match, but just five minutes later, Dolžnikov had his chance. He got behind the defenders and received an excellent pass. Facing a one-on-one situation, he made no mistake, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner to equalize the game.
Dolžnikov played a total of 72 minutes before being substituted. Ten minutes later, MFK Karvina scored the winning goal, courtesy of 19-year-old David Planka.
Following this defeat, Sigma Olomouc is now in 6th place in the league table with 39 points. They are still holding on to the last spot that would allow them to compete in the Championship group.
Sigma Olomouc’s next match is in three days. They travel to Prague to face Slavia Prague in the quarterfinals of the Czech MOL Cup.
