According to our sources, long-time FC RFS assistant manager Saulius Cekanavičius has joined the coaching staff of FK Liepāja. He will replace Goran Rosanda, who has left the team after only a few months.
The 56-year-old Cekanavičius most recently served as Roman Grygorchuk’s assistant manager at the Azerbaijani club Neftchi PFK. Prior to his time in Azerbaijan, the Lithuanian spent three and a half years with FC RFS, where he won two Virslīga titles and one Latvian Cup while assisting head coach Viktors Morozs.
Saulius Cekanavičius has over 20 years of experience in Latvia, primarily serving as an assistant manager for FK Ventspils during their peak years and with Jūrmalas Spartaks in 2020.
Goran Rosanda, the 36-year-old Croatian specialist he is replacing, left FK Liepāja after a brief tenure. Before joining Liepāja, Rosanda worked as an assistant manager for various Croatian club academies, as well as for the senior teams of Hajduk Split and NK Istra. He also served as an assistant for the Croatian U19 national team.
