After a 4-1 loss to Champions FC RFS, FK Liepāja head coach Dino Skender reflected on the match, the positives and negatives, and commented on the latest arrival – Amadou Traoré.

Despite taking an early lead against FC RFS and offering the reigning Champions much to think about after the first half, FK Liepāja ultimately conceded 4 goals in the second half to lose the match 4-1 and continue their negative streak against RFS, now entering its fifth season.

After the match, FK Liepāja Croatian head coach Dino Skender reflected on the performance of his team:

We have had an excellent first half but we conceded easy two goals at the beginning of the second half, and then the third one, and all the work that we did in the first half, we just threw away. Because of this, I am not happy. I think we came here with a good attitude – we want to play good football, attacking football and RFS are a strong team and it is not easy. I can be optimistic about the first half but, realistically, we cannot yet maintain such level for 90 minutes. We tried to come back and maybe make it 3-2 but, in the end, we couldn’t make it. I can also congratulate my team for not giving up until the end. Very good game for the spectators.

FK Liepāja defender, Vjačeslavs Isajevs, had to be substituted on the 29th minute due to injury. Skender revealed that Isajevs suffered an injury to his calf but no further information is yet available on the severity of it.

Speaking about the latest arrival – Amadou Traoré, who has not played competitive football since September 2024 – Skender noted that he was pleased with what he saw from the French-born Guinean on the pitch today:

This is what we talked about before – about having many options in front. Today, we had to play with more attacking options and when we saw that we are losing our attacking line due to fatigue because they were pushing so hard, we had to make a chance and this is where Traoré came in. He was good for his debut and we hope that he will be ready for longer than 30 minutes. For now, if these is anything good to take away from the second half for us, it’s his performance.

FK Liepāja will be back in action next Thursday as they host underperforming Riga FC in Latvia’s sunniest city.
