In the last match of Virslīga Matchday 2, SK Super Nova secured a comfortable 4-0 victory against FK Metta, who played most of the game with 10 men after their captain, Kārlis Vilnis, received a red card.

Both teams had lost their opening games last week, with SK Super Nova falling to Riga FC and FK Metta losing to FK Liepāja. Ahead of this match, both teams made some changes to their starting lineups. Super Nova’s manager, Ervīns Pērkons, made five changes, bringing back their top goalscorer from the previous season, Dmytro Sula. Meanwhile, Andris Riherts was able to include Aleksandrs Molotkovs in the starting lineup, who had missed the last game due to a loan agreement with FK Liepāja.

The match started actively for both teams, but a pivotal moment occurred in the middle of the first half when Kārlis Vilnis received his second yellow card for stopping a dangerous attack with a foul, resulting in his dismissal. Shortly after, FK Metta faced further trouble when their starting goalkeeper, Alvis Sorokins, had to leave the game due to a collision with SK Super Nova forward Dmytro Sula.

Ņikita Parfjonovs came on as the substitute goalkeeper and quickly conceded a goal. A corner kick taken by Agris Glaudāns that found Dmytro Sula, who scored the first Super Nova goal of the 2025 season, making it 1-0.

At the beginning of the second half, Super Nova extended their lead with a second goal. Milans Tihonovičs passed to Agris Glaudāns in the middle of the box, where Glaudāns hit a first-time shot that found the bottom left corner.

As the match continued, SK Super Nova continued to press, adding two more goals. The first came from an unfortunate own goal by Mohamed Camara. Right at the end of the game, 20-year-old Ruslans Deružinskis, a loanee from FC RFS who scored 18 goals for the RFS reserve team in the Nākotnes Līga last season, netted his first-ever goal in the Virslīga, making the final score 4-0.

With this win, SK Super Nova earned their first victory of the season, while FK Metta has now suffered consecutive 0-4 defeats to start their league campaign.
