In the Polish Ekstraklasa, Alvis Jaunzems and his team Stal Mielec lost 1-3 to Lech Poznan, one of the top Polish Ekstraklasa sides.

The 25-year-old Latvian started the match, but Stal Mielec came into the game struggling in the relegation zone, having not won any of their previous three league matches. It quickly became apparent that this game might continue that trend, as Lech Poznan scored two goals within just two minutes, thanks to Danish defender Carstensen and Finnish forward Hakans.

Before the end of the first half, Stal Mielec managed to reduce the deficit to 2-1 with a goal from Dadok. However, in the second half, Lech Poznan restored their two-goal lead when Afonso Sousa scored in the 58th minute, making the score 3-1.

Alvis Jaunzems played the entire match, marking his 23rd appearance in the Ekstraklasa this season, and he received a yellow card at the end of the game.

Stal Mielec has lost three out of its last four league matches and currently sits 14th in the league table with 23 points. It is just one point ahead of Zaglebie and Puszcza, who are in 15th and 16th places, respectively. Finishing in 16th place at the end of the season would result in automatic relegation from the Polish top division.

In their upcoming league match, Alvis and his team will face Slask Wroclaw next Saturday.
