FS Jelgava has secured the signing of 22-year-old central midfielder David Holoubek from Czech 2nd division club FC Sellier & Bellot Vlašim, marking him as the third Czech player to join the team.

David Holoubek began his football journey in his hometown with Nova Včelnice before moving to FK MAS Taborsko at the age of 13. In 2016, he joined the renowned Sparta Prague Academy, where he continued to hone his skills. In 2021, Holoubek made his professional debut with Sparta Prague B in the Czech 2nd division (Chance Narodni Liga). Over three seasons, he made a significant impact, playing 14 matches, scoring 1 goal, and providing 1 assist during the 2021/22 season. The following year, he featured in 11 games, netting 2 goals, while in the 2023/24 season, he appeared in 16 matches, scoring 1 goal and assisting once. In total, Holoubek accumulated 41 appearances, 4 goals, and 2 assists for Sparta Prague B, establishing himself as a consistent midfield presence.

In July 2024, Holoubek transferred to FC Sellier & Bellot Vlašim, aiming to gain more first-team experience. However, his playing time was limited: Only 1 appearance in the Chance Narodni Liga, playing just 3 minutes. Additionally, he played 60 minutes in a MOL Cup match. His limited role at Vlašim prompted the move to FS Jelgava, where he is expected to have a more prominent role in the squad.

Holoubek has represented the Czech Republic at the U-18 level, bringing international experience to his new team. He joins fellow Czechs Ondrej Ullman and Adam Dvorak, increasing the Czech influence at FS Jelgava.

FS Jelgava kicks off their 2025 Virslīga campaign on March 6, with an away fixture against FK Grobiņa.
