On Sunday, Kristers Tobers and his team, Aberdeen F.C., advanced to the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup by defeating Dunfermline Athletic F.C. with a score of 3-0.
The 24-year-old Latvian center-back started his sixth consecutive game in Scotland. Aberdeen has been struggling for the last couple of months, having won only one game in their last 15 matches, which was three weeks ago in the round of 16 of the Scottish Cup against lower league side Elgin City.
In this match, Aberdeen faced another Scottish lower-league team, Dunfermline Athletic F.C., as they entered the game as the clear favorites.
Aberdeen didn’t apply much pressure on their opponents during the first half, with the opening goal coming in added time when Pape Habib Gueye, in his third game back after a lengthy injury absence, scored just before halftime.
At the start of the second half, another winter transfer window signing, Alexander Jensen, scored his first goal for the club, doubling Aberdeen’s lead. Towards the end of the match, Kevin Nisbet, who had previously missed an easy chance, redeemed himself by scoring a tap-in and securing a 3-0 victory for Aberdeen, allowing them to progress to the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup.
Kristers Tobers, the captain of the Latvian national team, played the full match and received a yellow card at the end of the game.
Aberdeen and Kristers Tobers will next play on Saturday, facing Dundee FC away in the Scottish Premiership.
