New details have emerged in the latest days regarding Kristiāns Mežsargs’ transfer to Como 1907, with calciofrosinone.it reporting that the deal was finalized for a fee of €250,000. Additionally, Frosinone has secured a high resale percentage for any future transfer involving Mežsargs.
The 19-year-old forward has had an impressive season with Frosinone’s Primavera team, which made him a hot prospect for several Italian clubs, including Cagliari, Sassuolo, and Cremonese. However, Como ultimately won the race for his signature, finalizing the deal on the last day of the winter transfer window.
Mežsargs, who celebrated his 19th birthday a week ago, joined Frosinone in 2022 and has since emerged as a standout performer. This season, he has been in top form, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in just nine matches for the Primavera side.
Initially, Mežsargs will join Como’s Primavera squad but is expected to be promoted to the first team within the next six months. Como’s U19 team currently leads the Primavera 2 – A table with 42 points after 18 matches, providing an excellent platform for his development.
This makes Kristiāns Mežsargs the third most expensive Latvian teenager ever, following Jānis Ikaunieks and Deniss Rakels, who made moves valued at €400K at the ages of 19 and 18.
