Gineitis helps Torino get the point against Genoa, Utkus plays 45 minutes in Belgium

Gvidas Gineitis made his 17th Serie A appearance this season as Torino FC played a 1-1 draw against their close rivals, Genoa, on Saturday. Meanwhile, Edgaras Utkas started in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League as his Cercle Brugge played against league leaders Genk.

Serie A, Italy

The Lithuanian national team midfielder began the match on the bench for the fourth consecutive game, but this time he was called into action earlier than in previous matches, being substituted in the 30th minute for Adrien Tameze, who had to leave the game due to injury.

With Gineitis on the field, Torino took the lead just before halftime when Genoa’s Norwegian midfielder, Morten Thorsby, scored an own goal.

In the 68th minute, Genoa equalized when former Inter Milan academy player Andrea Pinamonti netted his seventh goal of the season.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Torino one point ahead of Genoa in the league standings. Torino is currently in 11th place with 28 points in Serie A.

Jupiler Pro League, Belgium

Meanwhile, in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Edgaras Utkas started and played only the first half as Cercle Brugge suffered a 2-1 defeat against league leaders Genk.

This marked Edgaras’s 14th appearance of the season, with Cercle Brugge currently sitting in 10th place with 29 points. Utkas and his team will play their next match at home against Westerlo next Sunday.
