Visakha FC, a prominent team in the Cambodian Premier League, has announced that it has mutually parted ways with head coach Jurģis Kalns.
The Latvian coach, who took over at Visakha in June 2024 after leaving Valmiera in his home country, was thanked by the club for his hard work and dedication. “We wish you good luck and success in your future endeavors,” Visakha stated in its announcement.
Kalns, a former coach of Latvian club Valmiera, joined Visakha with his trusted staff, including assistant coach Renārs Rode and goalkeeper coach Anthony McMullen. Now, all of them are leaving the team after half a year. Jurģis also brought in Latvian players, such as Vitālijs Jagodinskis, and more recently, Artūrs Karašausks on loan from FK Liepāja.
Under Kalns’ leadership, Visakha FC stand third in the Cambodian Premier League, with a total of 38 points from 18 games. Although the club showed improvement from the previous years, they are a bit short of challenging for the title against the top teams in the league.
As Jurģis Kalns is looking for a new place to be the manager, there have been some rumors that FK Auda might be his next workplace. They are still without a manager, and Jurģis did not hide previously that Auda was interested in him before he moved to Cambodia.
