SK Super Nova has announced the signing of Latvian U21 national team defender Milāns Tihonovičs on a long-term contract. Tihonovičs, a product of the BFC Daugavpils academy, has steadily progressed from youth ranks to securing a starting position in the Daugavpils first team.

Tihonovičs made his debut in the Latvian top flight, the Virslīga, in 2021 as a substitute against RFS. The following season, as a 19-year-old, he featured in three Virslīga matches. His breakthrough came in 2023, when he enjoyed his first full season in the league, playing in 23 matches.

In 2024, Tihonovičs started the season strongly with Daugavpils, cementing himself as the team’s first-choice right-back. By the summer, he had already played 25 games. However, personal circumstances, including academic commitments and a decision to relocate to Riga, led to a career shift. Despite stepping down a division, Tihonovičs joined SK Super Nova, a Nākotnes Līga (Latvia’s second-tier) club, which was battling for promotion to the Virslīga.

Tihonovičs quickly became a key player for SK Super Nova, appearing in 11 matches and playing a crucial role in the team’s successful promotion to the Latvian top tier under the guidance of head coach Ervīns Pērkons.

In addition to his club achievements, Tihonovičs has an impressive international youth record. He has represented Latvia in 13 matches for the U19 national team and recently earned his first call-up to the U21 side.

SK Super Nova has also announced the signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Deins Polis. Deins is a product of the Balvu SC and Liepājas FS academies. Last season, Polis served as the third-choice goalkeeper for FK Grobiņa, gaining valuable experience in a competitive environment. Simultaneously, he was a key figure for the Liepājas FS U18 team, where he not only played a pivotal role between the posts but also served as the team captain.
