The Latvian Football Federation’s (LFF) Club Licensing Committee reviewed applications for the 2025 Tonybet Virslīga season, granting licenses to nine out of ten applicants.
Valmiera FC, the 2022 champions, were denied a license due to unfulfilled financial obligations, including debts to employees and the State Revenue Service. As a result, FS Jelgava received the first reserve license.
LFF A licenses were granted to Riga FC, FC RFS, FK Liepāja, and BFC Daugavpils. Five other clubs were given additional deadlines to address incomplete criteria:
- FK Tukums 2000 – Financial debts, deadline: January 31.
- FK Grobiņa – Missing financial information, deadline: January 31.
- FK Auda – Incomplete coaching staff details, deadline: January 31.
- SK Super Nova – Missing stadium contract, deadline: February 25.
- FK Metta – Incomplete stadium info, deadline: February 25.
FS Jelgava was awarded a license but must meet financial criteria by January 31. Their participation in the 2025 season depends on possible decisions from the Appeals Committee regarding Valmiera FC.
