Deklavs joins SK Super Nova, two players re-sign

SK Super Nova has bolstered its squad ahead of the new Virslīga season with the signing of Andris Deklavs from FS Jelgava and contract extensions for Jegors Cīrulis and Ričards Penka.

Andris Deklavs, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder, makes the move after featuring prominently for FS Jelgava. He made 115 career appearances, including 35 matches in the 2024 Virslīga season, and previously, also 35 appearances in the 2023 Virslīga season. Deklavs reunites with coach Ervīns Pērkons, under whom he previously played at Jelgava, bringing needed reliability to the midfield.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old left-back Jegors Cīrulis, an SK Super Nova academy gruaduate has committed his future to Super Nova after returning to the club last year from a season-long stint at AFA Olaine. Cīrulis played 25 matches and scored 3 goals in the 2024 Nākotnes Liga season. Previously having also played in the Virslīga he continues to be a versatile defensive option. Worth mentioning is that he was the team’s captain last year.

Midfielder Ričards Penka, 20, has also extended his stay at the club. Penka joined Super Nova in March 2024 after a stint in Italy’s Serie D with San Marzano. He quickly made an impact, scoring 5 goals in 21 appearances during the 2024 Nākotnes Liga season. Prior to his time in Italy, Penka developed his game at Rīgas Futbola Skola and FK Tukums 2000 II.
