FK Kauno Žalgiris has announced the additions to its coaching staff for the upcoming season. Joining the team are Algis Jankauskas, Audrius Ramonas, and Rimantas Česnulis.

Earlier today, we reported that Algis Jankauskas had left FA Šiauliai after five years with the team. Shortly after, he was announced as the assistant coach to the newly appointed FK Kauno Žalgiris head coach, Eivinas Černiauskas. After the 2022 season, Jankauskas, who concluded his professional career, joined Mindaugas Čepas’ coaching staff at FA Šiauliai and has been there ever since.

Throughout his career, the 42-year-old has been a six-time Lithuanian champion, a five-time National Cup winner, and has lifted the Super Cup trophy seven times. Černiauskas commented on Jankauskas’s addition: “The names are well known to everyone, so it’s quite easy to introduce them. Algis has accumulated much experience and will be valuable to both the team and me. His individual work with defenders and in standard situations can be highlighted.”

Additionally, multiple-time Lithuanian champion Audrius Ramonas will take on the role of goalkeeping coach, succeeding Mantas Gintalas, who served in that position for five years. Following his playing career, the 45-year-old has worked as a goalkeeper coach with Marijampolė Sūduva, Vilnius Žalgiris, and the Lithuanian national team.

“Audrius is a long-time national team goalkeeper coach. We have been working together for a decade and have experienced everything. He is a true professional and an expert in his field—arguably the best goalkeeper coach in Lithuania. What ties Audrius and Algis together is their character and winning mentality. For both of them, nothing less than victory is acceptable, which will drive them forward,” Černiauskas added.

Lastly, Rimantas Česnulis, a long-time member of the Marijampolė Sūduva coaching staff, will now be responsible for the physical preparation of the team’s players.

“We have also been collaborating with Rimantas for a long time; his wealth of knowledge is immense. He is a professional in his field who puts in a lot of effort, which will benefit all of us,” said Černiauskas.

Continuing in their roles will be analyst Rokas Pranaitis and physiotherapist Algirdas Narkevičius, while Karolis Palaima will remain in charge of the B team.
