There has been a change in the coaching staff of the FA Šiauliai team. Algis Jankauskas, who made a significant impact in Šiauliai’s football history, will not be coaching the team next year.

Jankauskas’s journey with the club began at the end of 2020 when he joined the yellow-and-black team as a player while they were competing in the TOPsport Pirma Lyga.

In 2021, he became a vital player for Šiauliai, serving as captain and helping the team secure promotion to the country’s highest division. During that season, he played all 27 matches, scored eight goals, and was recognized as the best defender and player in the Pirma Lyga.

After an impressive season in 2021, Jankauskas officially retired from professional football in Šiauliai in November of the following year. However, his story with the Šiauliai Football Academy did not end there. In recent years, he has served as an assistant coach for both the first and B teams.

Over the past year, Algis has developed as a coach, leading the Šiauliai team to win bronze medals in the TOPsport A Lyga and earning a ticket to the UEFA Conference League qualifying round. He also competed in the Lithuanian Cup final.

I would like to thank the entire FA ‘Šiauliai’ community for these memorable four years. Here, I ended my professional football career and began my coaching journey. I am grateful to the management of this organization for trusting me and allowing me to gain experience in this new stage of my career. I also want to thank Mindaugas Čepas for sharing valuable knowledge and experience, the entire coaching staff for their support, and the players, without whom we wouldn’t have achieved anything. I wish the FA ‘Šiauliai’ organization continued growth and success in achieving its goals. Good luck!” – said Jankauskas to the fans and club in the press release.

A few weeks ago, FA Šiauliai appointed former Latvian National Team manager Dainis Kazakevičs as their next head coach.
