Nõmme United, which finished last in the previous Premium Liiga season, has announced on social media that it has signed a two-year contract with midfielder Zakaria Beglarishvili. The 34-year-old Georgian, who holds an Estonian passport, recently left JK Narva Trans, citing family reasons for his departure.
The top assist-getter in last season’s Premium Liiga stated in a press release to United: “I like the young team at Nõmme and want to pass on my experience to these talented players!”
“I am very pleased that such a legend of the Estonian leagues has joined us. His presence and composure on the pitch will help the team achieve better results in the new season!” said Martin Klasen, CEO of United.
In addition to his time with Trans, Beglarišvili has played for Flora Tallinn and Levadia Tallinn. He has scored 146 goals in 343 Premium League matches, which ranks him ninth and tenth in the all-time scoring list, tied with Indrek Zelinski.
Beglarišvili confirmed that he left Trans for family reasons and expressed gratitude to the club’s president, CEO, and all employees. He noted that negotiations with his new club, Nõmme United, went smoothly. “I have won everything possible in the Premium Liiga, and it serves as a great motivator for me to achieve something with these talented young players,” he told Soccernet.ee after joining United.
He aims to help United return to the top flight after they were relegated from the Premium Liiga this year. This wouldn’t be the first time in Beglarišvili’s career that he has assisted a top-flight club in moving up a level. “We were promoted in the Finnish top flight with KTP under coach Argo Arbeiter, and now I want to do the same with Nõmme United in Estonia,” the 34-year-old recalled, reflecting on his achievement in 2020.
