Metta moved three points clear at the top of Latvia’s Nākotnes līga after beating JDFS Alberts 3-1, while Valmiera’s 4-2 defeat by Riga Mariners opened the way for Andris Riherts’ side to take control of the promotion race.
Valmiera took the lead against Riga Mariners when Artūrs Bērziņš struck a fine first-time volley after Nikita Tsepelev’s attempted clearance. The visitors levelled through Artjoms Pavlovskis, but Toki Yamamura restored Valmiera’s advantage just before half-time.
Pavlovskis equalised again in the 63rd minute before setting up Matīss Caune for Riga Mariners’ third goal. Richmond Owusu completed the comeback late on. Pavlovskis finished with two goals and an assist, moving Riga Mariners to within four points of the play-off places.
Metta fell behind to Paul Omale’s third-minute goal at JDFS Alberts, but Varis Lavals equalised before half-time. Kevin Cēsnieks put the visitors ahead early in the second half and Sellu Jalovs secured the points in stoppage time. Metta now lead with 54 points, three ahead of Valmiera, while five matches remain.
Leevon PPK kept their promotion hopes alive by beating RFS II 6-3 in a nine-goal match. Renē Baumanis and Sho Aogaki scored twice each, while Kristofers Abrants netted a second-half hat-trick for RFS II. Leevon PPK are fourth with 49 points, two behind Valmiera.
Smiltene defeated Super Nova II 2-0, with Valters Gaismiņš scoring once and setting up Renārs Rāms. Tukums 2000 II beat Rēzekne 3-1 despite receiving a red card, with Koyo Shigema and Junosuke Higaši on target. Rēzekne remain bottom on six points.
