Estonian youngster Soufian Gouram started his fourth straight match of the season in the German 2. Bundesliga as Hertha Berlin continued their perfect start with a high-scoring 5-3 away win over Braunschweig.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder was once again named in the starting line-up as Hertha travelled to Braunschweig for their third league match of the campaign.
The hosts made a flying start and took a two-goal lead inside the opening 33 minutes, putting Hertha under serious pressure. However, Gouram’s side responded strongly before half-time, scoring twice in the space of six minutes to go into the break level at 2-2.
The goal fest continued after the interval, but this time Hertha took full control. The Berlin club scored three unanswered goals in the second half to move into a commanding 5-2 lead by the 87th minute.
Braunschweig pulled one goal back late on, but it was not enough to threaten Hertha’s victory as they held on for an entertaining 5-3 win.
Gouram played 66 minutes before being substituted with Hertha leading 3-2. The Estonian youngster has now started all four of Hertha’s matches this season and has registered one assist in the 2. Bundesliga.
The victory keeps Hertha Berlin perfect after three league matches, with three wins from three and top spot in the 2. Bundesliga table.
Hertha will look to continue their winning start next Sunday, when they host Magdeburg.
