Estonian international Karol Mets played the full 90 minutes in the German 2. Bundesliga as VfL Bochum suffered a narrow 0-1 home defeat to VfL Osnabrück.
Bochum had started the new league season with one win and one defeat, both matches ending 1-0. That trend continued on Friday evening, but this time the result went against them.
The only goal of the match came as early as the fourth minute, when 20-year-old forward Ismail Badjie found the net to give Osnabrück an early lead. Despite plenty of time remaining, Bochum were unable to find a way back into the game.
The home side were the more dominant team overall and recorded twice as many shots as Osnabrück, but their pressure did not lead to an equaliser. Mets, who has played the full match in all but one of Bochum’s games so far this season, produced another solid individual performance in central defence.
The 33-year-old completed 101 of his 106 passes, made five clearances and added three recoveries as Bochum controlled long spells of possession but failed to turn that dominance into goals.
Bochum will return to league action next Saturday, when Mets and his teammates travel away to face Dynamo Dresden.
