Latvian international Kristaps Grabovskis and Georgian Cup holders Dila Gori booked their place in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening after a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over fellow top-flight side Samgurali, with the winning goal arriving in stoppage time of the second period of extra time.
The 21-year-old winger made his third appearance for Dila Gori since joining the Georgian club on loan from Danish side B.93 and was once again included in the starting line-up.
Dila Gori took the lead just before half-time through Alioune Tali, giving the hosts advantage heading into the break.
However, Samgurali responded after the interval and restored parity in the 58th minute, forcing Dila Gori to battle for a place in the last four. Grabovskis remained on the pitch until the 83rd minute before being substituted, with neither side able to find a winner during the remainder of normal time.
The tie appeared destined for a penalty shootout as the clock ticked into stoppage time of the second period of extra time. Instead, Georgian midfielder Georgiy Kobakhidze produced the decisive moment, scoring a dramatic late winner to send the defending cup holders through to the Georgian Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 victory.
Grabovskis and Dila Gori will now turn their attention back to the Erovnuli Liga, where they travel to face Dinamo Tbilisi on 31 August.
