Defender Deniss Cirkins, who was involved in Latvia’s national team training camp in March and remains on the federation’s radar for a future call-up, made his debut for Queens Park Rangers on Saturday in the English Championship.
Cirkins came off the bench in the 62nd minute as QPR were held 0-0 at home by newly promoted Bolton in their second match of the English Championship season.
QPR dominated the chances, registering 17 attempts with nine on target, while the visitors managed only two shots and none that seriously tested the home side.
Cirkins was introduced with the score still level and, in his cameo, recorded a successful tackle, a block and won four duels. Last season Cirkins played for English Premier League club Sunderland where he made eight appearances.
The result leaves QPR with four points from two matches, putting them fourth in the early table. Last season, in the 24-team division, they finished 15th. Next match for QPR will be next Saturday when they will play an away game against Blackburn
