The latest Riga derby between RFS and Riga will be overseen by a Polish refereeing team, in the first time this Virsliga season that the fixture has been handed to officials from abroad.
Latvian Football Federation appointments show 31-year-old Patryk Gryckiewicz, from Toruń, will take charge at LNK Sporta Parks, with Davids Golis and Bartošs Kašiņskis named as assistant referees. Aleksandrs Anufrijevs will act as fourth official.
The VAR role switches again for the derby, with Kristaps Ratnieks appointed as video assistant referee and Vitālijs Spasjonņikovs as his assistant, while Artjoms Murdasovs will be the replay operator. Konstantīns Rubīns has been named as match delegate and Vadims Direktorenko as referee observer.
The league’s previous two derbies were handled by Latvian referees. April’s meeting, in which Riga recovered from 2-0 down and later 3-2 down, was refereed by Andris Treimanis, while Edgars Maļcevs took charge in June when Riga won 2-1.
Gryckiewicz arrives with recent top-flight experience in Poland. He has taken charge of three Ekstraklasa matches this month, issuing 17 yellow cards, and last season showed five red cards across 19 league games, alongside an average of 4.3 cautions per match.
He has also officiated in UEFA competition qualifiers this summer, refereeing Sabah v The New Saints (2-0) in the Champions League first qualifying round and Motherwell v HB (2-0) in the Conference League second qualifying round. He produced no cards in Scotland, but in Azerbaijan issued five cautions and dismissed a home player for a second booking late on.
