Grobiņa came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with relegation rivals Ogre United in Monday’s Virslīga meeting at Slokas stadions, with Milan Corryn scoring twice in the second half.

Ogre United struck with one of their first meaningful attacks as Artem Marčuks drove a low finish into the corner in the 13th minute. Grobiņa had started brighter and forced early saves from goalkeeper Ņikita Parfjonovs, but struggled to turn possession into clear chances.

The visitors doubled their lead just before the break when Kristers Čudars drilled a low ball across goal and Markuss Kalniņš headed in between Robert Ozols’ legs to make it 2-0.

Ogre United then passed up a series of chances to put the game beyond reach. Tomašs Mickevičs hit the post from a corner, Estevez Fernandez also struck the woodwork and Čudars fired wide from a tight angle as the visitors continued to commit numbers forward.

Grobiņa punished that openness on 65 minutes, breaking quickly and finding Corryn in the box to finish after Oļģerts Raščevskis’ pass from the right. Korēns later went close again, but Parfjonovs kept Ogre United in front.

In the closing stages, with Ogre United having lost centre-back Aleksejs Kudeļkins to injury, Grobiņa levelled when Deivids Dobrecovs’ cross reached an unmarked Corryn in front of goal for his second in the 90th minute.

Ogre United nearly won it in stoppage time, only for Ozols to save Čudars’ close-range effort. Next up, Ogre United begin August with two matches at Skonto stadions against Auda and Riga, while Grobiņa travel to face Riga and RFS.
