One of Lithuania’s most influential sporting directors, Karolis Skinkys, has announced his departure from Indian football club Kerala Blasters.

The decision was revealed on Thursday through Skinkys’ social media channels. Despite being under contract until 2028, the Lithuanian has chosen to leave the club after spending more than five years in India.

“This has not been an easy decision. Kerala has been much more than a workplace to me. It has been a second home. Together we experienced incredible moments, unforgettable victories, difficult challenges, and memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I would like to thank our owners, coaches, players, staff and especially the incredible supporters. The passion of the Kerala Blasters fans is truly unique, and it has been a privilege to work for such a club.

Over these six seasons, I gave everything I had to help the club grow on and off the pitch. I am proud of what we achieved together and grateful for the trust that was placed in me throughout this journey,” Skinkys said.

According to the 36-year-old sporting director, uncertainty surrounding the future of Indian football played a decisive role in his decision to step down.

“My decision to leave is driven by the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of the ISL and Indian football. After careful consideration, I believe this is the right moment for me to begin a new chapter in my professional career.

I sincerely hope stability returns to Indian football soon. The country has enormous potential, passionate supporters, talented players, and wonderful people who deserve a strong and sustainable football ecosystem.”

Having previously enjoyed success with Sūduva Marijampolė before moving to Kerala Blasters, Skinkys has established a strong reputation beyond Lithuania’s borders. His achievements in both domestic and international football are likely to attract interest from clubs abroad as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
