Latvia’s Football Federation (LFF) ethics committee has opened an investigation relating to the Virslīga match between Super Nova and RFS played on 29th of May.

In a statement, the committee said the decision was taken on the basis of information available to it and matters established during interviews carried out at a committee meeting.

The case concerns potential conflicts of interest involving several clubs and players, and an alleged failure to observe fair play principles. The ethics committee said the issues relate to the rules governing player transfers on loan and possible non-compliance with the established procedure.

The Super Nova vs RFS match was flagged on account of a number of irregularities, including players on loan from RFS at Super Nova failing to be registered for the game, which is no longer allowed as of this season, and a string of seemingly illogical substitutions by the Super Nova side late in the game, while the teams were drawn.

This is already a second inquiry into games involving RFS this season, although the first one was dismissed.
