FA Šiauliai have announced their first signing ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window after adding Ukrainian midfielder Artem Baftalovskyi to the squad.
The attack-minded midfielder has already spent four years playing in Lithuania’s top flight. His most recent club was fellow Toplyga side FK Riteriai, whom he joined earlier this year.
Lithuania is far from unfamiliar territory for the Ukrainian footballer. Since 2023, Baftalovskyi had also represented DFK Dainava, helping the club win the Pirma Lyga title before later competing with them in Toplyga.
Before moving to Lithuania, the midfielder spent his entire professional career in Ukraine, representing clubs such as Hirnyk-Sport, Energiya NK, Kremin and Dinaz.
“I’m very happy to become part of this organisation – it’s a great opportunity for me. During these few days in Šiauliai I’ve already had the chance to get to know the team and the training process, and I can say that there is a very professional and ambitious environment here. I’m ready to give everything for this club badge,”
“From the attention shown by the club, I understood that this is the right step in my career path. I believe I can continue to improve here as a player while also helping the team achieve its goals. I can’t wait to get onto the pitch and fight for victories together.” said Baftalovskyi, who will wear the number 8 shirt for Šiauliai.
Baftalovskyi will become available for official matches with Šiauliai once the Lithuanian summer transfer window opens on June 15. FA Šiauliai currently sit ninth in the Toplyga table with 13 points, and their next match comes on Monday when they host Baftalovskyi’s former club FK Riteriai.
