Riga closed to within a point of Virsliga leaders RFS after a 3-1 away win over Tukums 2000, ending the hosts’ four-match unbeaten run.
Tukums started brightly and tested Riga debutant goalkeeper Frenks Orols, making his first appearance since joining from RFS. But the visitors struck twice in three minutes to seize control.
A corner in the 17th minute led to the opener as Joseph Ede, normally Tukums’ leading scorer, got the final touch into his own net. Riga quickly doubled their lead when captain Antonijs Černomordijs met Caio’s cross with a header for his first goal of the season.
Tukums responded before the break and Ede made amends, finishing past Orols to cut the deficit to 2-1 and take his league tally to 13 for the campaign.
The hosts began the second half with purpose and Ede went close to equalising after a solo run, but Orols saved. Riga then restored their two-goal cushion on the hour when Diop drove into the box and picked out Badamosi, who steered home for his ninth goal of the season.
