Riga FC powered to a 3-0 Virsliga away win over Grobiņa as Brazilian midfielder Iago Siqueira scored twice inside of four minutes to put the game the rest already in the first half.

The champions went in front after 18 minutes from a short-corner routine. Siqueira delivered into the box and, after Grobiņa goalkeeper Ņikita Pinčuks failed to deal cleanly with the cross on his first league appearance of the season, Renārs Varslavāns reacted quickest to steer the loose ball into the far corner.

Grobiņa were punished again in the 36th minute after a move broke down in midfield and Riga countered quickly. Orlando Galo’s pass found the unmarked Brazilian inside the area and drove the ball low past Pinčuks.

Iago doubled his tally moments later with a long-range strike to make it 3-0 before half-time. Riga FC were forced into an early substitution when left-back Andres Salazar limped off on the half-hour mark, with Emīls Birka coming on.

Grobiņa made a series of substitutions after the break and had a brief spell of pressure early in the second half, but Riga goalkeeper Krišjānis Zviedris was rarely tested as the visitors managed the game to a comfortable victory.
