In the Tonybet Virslīga Matchday 6 clash, FC RFS left it late to secure a dramatic 2-1 away victory over FK Tukums 2000, with Darko Lemajic playing a decisive role as the visitors climbed to the top of the league table.
RFS made a perfect start, taking the lead as early as the 2nd minute. Mor Talla finished from close range after a well-worked move involving Cedric Kouadio, giving the visitors early control. RFS dominated much of the first half, creating several chances – particularly through Jānis Ikaunieks – but were unable to extend their advantage, with Tukums goalkeeper Ivans Baturins keeping his side in the game.
Despite RFS’ control, the match turned after the break. In the 56th minute, Tukums equalized following a defensive error. As the game entered its closing stages, RFS applied sustained pressure. Haruna Njie and Darko Lemajic came close themselves, missing from close range in late stages, but moments later the decisive breakthrough arrived. In the 91st minute, a dangerous situation in the Tukums box resulted in Darko Lemajic turning the ball into the goal, completing the RFS turnaround.
Tukums attempted to respond in the dying minutes, but RFS managed the game well and saw out the victory after five minutes of added time. Thanks to this win RFS moved up to the top of the table after Matchday 6.
