In one of the most entertaining matches of the Tonybet Virslīga season so far, Riga FC were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by FK Tukums 2000 at Mežaparka Sports Village, with Nigerian striker Joseph Ede Oloko stealing the spotlight with a stunning hat-trick.
Riga started the match on the front foot and took the lead in the 30th minute when Paulo Eduardo finished from close range after sustained pressure. However, their advantage was quickly cancelled out in the 41st minute following a costly mistake. Paulo Eduardo miscontrolled the ball in midfield as the last man, allowing Oloko to break through one-on-one, and the Nigerian made no mistake to level the score at 1-1.
Just before halftime, Riga regained the lead through Renārs Varslavāns, who finished from close range after a well-delivered cross, sending the hosts into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
The second half continued in the same chaotic rhythm. Tukums were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute after a foul by Varslavāns, and Oloko stepped up to calmly convert, making it 2-2 and bringing his tally to two on the night.
Riga pushed forward again and were rewarded in the 73rd minute when Reginaldo Ramires headed home from close range following a Juan Christian cross, putting the hosts ahead for the third time in the match at 3-2.
But once again, Tukums refused to go away. In the 87th minute, substitute Jun Toba played a key role, setting up Oloko inside the box, and the striker made no mistake with a composed finish into the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick and level the score at 3-3.
The drama did not end there. Riga threw everything forward in the closing moments in search of a winner, but Tukums goalkeeper Ivans Baturins produced a stunning late save to deny the hosts and secure a valuable point for his side against the champions.
