In the closing match of the fourth round of the Tonybet Virslīga, FK Tukums 2000 and FK Grobiņa played out an entertaining 1-1 draw, with both sides creating enough chances to claim all three points.

Grobiņa, led by Oskars Kļava, came into the match in strong form, having won two of their opening three games. A victory would have seen them join the league’s leading trio – Riga FC, FK Auda and FC RFS – all sitting on nine points.

Meanwhile, Kristaps Dišlers’s Tukums side were still searching for their first win of the season, handing opportunities to new arrivals including Nigerian forward Ede Oloko and Ugandan defender Allan Enyou, who recently joined after a two-year spell in Canada and previous experience with SK Super Nova.

It was Enyou who had the game’s first major chance on his debut. After a mistake from goalkeeper Vjačeslavs Kudrjavcevs during a corner, the Ugandan was left unmarked but failed to convert, sending his header wide from close range.

The action quickly shifted to the other end, where Artjoms Puzirevskis was unable to capitalise on a partial one-on-one opportunity. The game continued at a frantic pace, and moments later Oloko struck the crossbar with a powerful effort from outside the box.

The breakthrough finally came in the first half when Kaspars Anmanis delivered an excellent pass to Brazilian attacker Leoni, who created space for himself before finishing clinically into the far corner to give Tukums the lead.

Grobiņa responded immediately. After Baturins denied another Puzirevskis effort, the visitors earned a corner, and Lithuanian defender Rolandas Baravykas rose highest to head home the equaliser.

The second half remained open, with both teams pushing for a winner. Grobiņa came closest when Puzirevskis found himself in another promising position, but Ivans Baturins produced an excellent save. Tukums replied through long-range efforts from Anmanis and Oloko, both handled by Kudrjavcevs.

In the dying moments, Grobiņa had one last chance to snatch victory. In stoppage time, substitute Gļebs Kļuškins failed to convert from close range following a corner, letting a golden opportunity slip.

In the end, both sides had to settle for a point. Grobiņa move to fifth place with seven points from four matches, while Tukums remain without a win, collecting their second point of the season.
