Newcomers Ogre United secured the first point in their club’s Tonybet Virslīga history in the second round of the season, playing out a 1-1 draw against Tukums 2000.

The opening stages were fairly balanced, with both sides testing their luck from distance. Tukums created a couple of early attempts through Raivis Kirss and Shun Shibata, while Ogre responded with a header from Emils Evelons that narrowly missed the target. The hosts’ most dangerous moment of the first half came in the 25th minute when Vadym Mashchenko headed just wide after a cross from Dāvis Vējkrīgers.

The breakthrough came just before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Tukums capitalized on a corner kick. Bogdans Samoilovs delivered an excellent cross into the box, where Ruslans Deružinskis rose above the defenders and powered a header into the bottom corner past Nikita Parfjonovs, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Ogre United responded early in the second half with increased pressure. Mashchenko tested Ivans Baturins from distance, while Felipe Machado, who came on at halftime, also forced the Tukums goalkeeper into action.

The hosts eventually found their equalizer in the 57th minute, scoring their first goal in Virslīga history. Dāvis Vējkrīgers launched a counterattack down the right flank and delivered the ball into the penalty area while searching for a teammate. A Tukums defender attempted to intercept, but the ball deflected off Kristers Volkovs and ended up in the net for an own goal, leveling the score at 1-1.

The remainder of the match remained tense, with both teams pushing for a winner. Ogre had a golden chance in the 80th minute when Vadym Mashchenko swung in a dangerous corner that drifted toward goal and struck the crossbar, coming agonizingly close to putting the hosts ahead.

Shortly afterward, substitute Markuss Kalniņš fired a powerful shot from distance toward the near post, but Baturins reacted well and kept the score level.

Tukums created several dangerous moments late on, including multiple blocked efforts from Kristaps Klavins inside the penalty area. In stoppage time, the visitors nearly stole all three points when Leoni Gastaldelo broke through the Ogre defense and found himself one-on-one inside the box. However, Parfjonovs produced an excellent save to deny the striker and preserve the draw.

With the match ending 1-1, Ogre United celebrated their first point in Virslīga history, while Tukums had to settle for a share of the spoils after a closely contested encounter.
