MFA Žalgiris began their 2026 Winter Cup schedule in emphatic fashion as they thrashed Kauno rajono futbolo akademija 6-0 in the second round of the pre-season competition.
The Vilnius side controlled the match at the Žirmūnai gymnasium indoor arena and were ahead already after 15 minutes when Bunmi Elizabeth David opened the score. Erika Šupelytė doubled the lead eight minutes later to put MFA Žalgiris firmly in charge at the break.
The goals continued to flow after half-time. Olamidė Sandra Adugbė struck two minutes into the second half, before newcomer Noela Patrick Luhala marked her first goal for the club in the 59th minute. Captain Ugnė Lazdauskaitė made it 5-0 in the 70th minute and Šupelytė completed her brace four minutes later.
Elsewhere in Group B, Saned let a two-goal advantage slip as Banga fought back for a 2-2 draw. Rusnė Šešplaukytė put Saned in front early on, with Maryan Ogochukwu Ohadiwe converting a penalty, but Donata Švarcaitė and Vanesa Gaudutytė scored late to rescue a point.
The Winter Cup group stage concludes next weekend. On 14 February, FK Žalgiris face MFA Žalgiris in a Vilnius derby at the Žirmūnai sports complex arena (13:20), while Šiauliai meet Banga on 15 February in Panevėžys (16:30). The final stage is scheduled for 21-22 February.
