Riga FC Women star Brima moves to Spain’s Liga F

Riga FC Women striker Kumba Brima has secured a move to one of the world’s strongest women’s football leagues after joining newly promoted Spanish Liga F side Deportivo Alaves on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Sierra Leone international arrived at Riga FC Women in the summer of last year and immediately enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign. She helped the club win the Latvian Women’s League title, the Latvian Women’s Cup and the Baltic Women’s Football League, scoring an astonishing 37 goals across all competitions in just half a season.

Brima has continued her prolific form this year, netting 40 goals in all competitions as Riga FC Women successfully defended their Baltic Women’s Football League crown and moved closer to retaining the Latvian league title.

Her new club, Deportivo Alaves, return to Spain’s top-flight women’s division this season after earning promotion back to Liga F. The Basque side last competed in the top division during the 2022/23 campaign.
