Lithuania national team defender Vilius Armalas made his debut in the Hungarian top division on Saturday, coming on as a late substitute to help MTK Budapest secure a 3-2 away victory over Kisvárda.

The 25-year-old defender joined MTK Budapest during the winter transfer window after several impressive seasons with FC Hegelmann, once again taking the opportunity to test himself abroad.

MTK Budapest resumed their season following the winter break with the trip to Kisvárda, and Armalas began the match on the substitutes’ bench. Both sides found the net once in the first half and again after the break, leaving the contest finely balanced heading into the final stages.

The decisive moment came in the 82nd minute, when the visitors from Budapest regained the lead after a Kisvárda player inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Three minutes later, Armalas was introduced for his first official appearance with MTK, tasked with helping to see out the result.

MTK successfully held on for the 3-2 win, opening the second half of the season with all three points. The victory lifted the club to seventh place in the league standings and brought them within three points of Kisvárda.

MTK Budapest will be back in league action next Saturday, when they host Kazincbarcika at home.
