Estonian champions FC Flora Tallinn have announced the signing of Taaniel Usta, last season’s top scorer for JK Tallinna Kalev.

The 22-year-old striker enjoyed the best season of his senior career in 2025, scoring 13 goals in 36 Premium Liiga matches. His tally placed him joint-third in the league’s scoring charts despite Tallinna Kalev finishing last and being relegated to Estonia’s second tier. Given Kalev’s relegation and Usta’s strong individual performances, it was widely expected that the forward would move on.

Flora have now confirmed Usta’s return to the club after a four-year absence. FC Flora sporting director Taavi Trasberg praised the striker’s profile and potential impact:

“Taaniel is very fast, exceptionally athletic, dominant in duels and powerful in aerial battles. He always gives everything to be useful for the team. Joining FC Flora is a new and positive challenge for him, and we will do our best to help and support his development in every way.”

Usta, who has earned seven caps for Estonia’s U-21 national team, expressed his excitement about joining what he described as the country’s strongest club.

“I am coming to FC Flora with very positive thoughts. Joining Estonia’s top club is a very big step,” said Usta. “I hope that in the new season we can experience the same success, discipline and work ethic as last year.”

The striker also highlighted the qualities he believes he brings to the squad, while acknowledging areas for improvement.

“I am a physical, strong and fast player, and I can play quite equally with both feet. I still need to improve my link-up play and positioning in the penalty area, but that will come with time and experience. One of my main goals is definitely to reach the Estonian national team.”

Overall, Usta has made 125 appearances in the Estonian top division, scoring 27 goals. During his career he has represented Harju JK Laagri, Pärnu JK Vaprus and JK Narva Trans, and also spent a brief spell in Finland with KTP.

FC Flora Tallinn will begin preparations for the new season on Monday, when the squad gathers for the first training session ahead of the 2026 campaign.
