Latvian Virslīga side FK Grobiņa has announced that Oskars Kļava will remain in charge for the 2026 season, following the club’s successful fight for survival.

The 42-year-old coach was appointed interim head coach in September after long-time manager Viktors Dobrecovs was relieved of his duties. Under Kļava’s leadership, Grobiņa closed out the regular season with two wins, three draws, and just one defeat over the final six league matches, finishing 9th in the table.

Although safety was not secured directly, Grobiņa completed the job in the relegation play-offs, edging JDFS Alberts 1-0 on aggregate to retain their place in the top flight for 2026.

Kļava in the past for a brief spell has served as manager of Jūrmalas Spartaks, worked as an assistant at Valmiera FC, and was part of Dobrecovs’ coaching staff at Grobiņa before stepping into the interim role.
