Latvian U-21 striker Gļebs Patika found the net in the Slovak Cup, helping his side Tatran Prešov to a convincing 3-0 away victory over second-tier club Lubovňa. The win sees Prešov book their place in the Round of 16.
It was the first time both Latvian players – Patika and national team defender Daniels Balodis – started together in Tatran’s lineup. After leading 1-0 at halftime, the visitors doubled their advantage midway through the second half when Patika struck with his second goal of the competition, giving his team breathing space before a late third goal sealed the result.
Both players completed the full 90 minutes. The 20-year-old Patika, who has made only one league appearance this season, has now featured in three official matches since joining Prešov and scored twice. Meanwhile, Balodis – who joined the Slovak side from the Scottish Premiership earlier this year – made his 11th appearance for the club.
Tatran Prešov return to league action this Sunday, facing a tough away fixture against Slovak champions Slovan Bratislava.
