BFC Daugavpils defender Junior Taty, currently on loan from FC RFS, has received his first-ever call-up to the Congo national team, joining a growing group of Virslīga players representing their countries during this international window.
The 20-year-old center-back, who can also play in a more defensive holding role, has been one of Daugavpils’ most consistent performers this season -featuring in 27 league matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His solid performances have earned him recognition from Congo’s national selectors ahead of the team’s final World Cup qualification matches against Niger and Morocco.
Meanwhile, Latvian league leaders Riga FC have confirmed that Joao Grimaldo (Peru) and Orlando Galo (Costa Rica) will also join their respective national teams. Peru are set to play a friendly against Chile, while Costa Rica continue their World Cup qualification campaign with key fixtures against Honduras and Nicaragua.
Elsewhere, FK Liepāja’s first-choice goalkeeper Danijel Petković has been called up once again by Montenegro. The experienced shot-stopper, who made his first international appearance since 2023 during the previous international window, is expected to feature in matches against the Faroe Islands and Liechtenstein.
