Lithuania fans have hired an entire private train to go from Vilnius to Tallinn and then to Helsinki via a ferry for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Finland on the 9th October.
The train will carry nine carriages and will run exclusively for the Vyčio Tribūna, who are a supporters group supporting and following the Lithuanian national team.
Each carriage will have nine compartments with space for 36 people with carriages divided into three zones: yellow, green, and red. Yellow is the quiet zone for people who want to relax, green is an intermediate zone for socialising and red is the party all night zone.
It will cost €190 for a seat on the train and the ferry there and back, however, if you would like a sleeping place it will cost €240. There is also an extra charge for match ticket to the game.
It will depart from Vilnius on the 8th October, just under 24 hours before the game at 20:30 and will arrive in Tallinn the next morning. From Tallinn there will be a two hour ferry into Helsinki and it will approximately arrive in the Finnish capital 5-6 hours before kick-off.
Once the game has concluded, special buses will take fans back to the ferry which will depart 90 minutes after the game. The train from Tallinn back to Vilnius will leave at 2am, with fans expected to arrive back in the Lithuanian capital at 3pm noon the day after the game.
The idea has received a lot of support, especially from Lithuanian craft brewers Genys, as they have offered to provide the drinks for the trip. The craft non-alcoholic beer will be available on tap in the red zone of the train.
It is the type of trip football fans dream of, but for some Lithuania fans travelling to Finland to watch their side play, it is set to become a reality.
