After weeks of frustration, Harju Laagri finally tasted victory again, picking up a valuable three points on the road by defeating Narva Trans 3-1 in the 27th round of the Estonian Premium Liiga. The result gives the Tallinn-based side a much-needed boost ahead of a crucial ten-game run to close out the season.
The evening began brightly for the hosts at Kalev-Fama Stadium. In the 28th minute, Trans capitalized on a turnover down the right wing. Ahmad Gero smartly opted for a pass instead of pulling the trigger, slipping the ball to Josue Doke, who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner for 1-0.
Harju had already missed a golden chance before conceding, but they quickly found their response. On 40 minutes, Andres Järve delivered a corner to the near post, where Karel Eerme improvised with a cheeky backheel flick. Kristofer Piht rose to meet it and powered in a header – 1-1. Just before the break, another set piece troubled the Narva defense, and this time Eerme was on hand to apply the finish himself.
The second half saw Trans dominate possession and push hard for an equalizer. Wave after wave of attacks tested Harju’s resilience, yet it was the visitors who struck again. In the 54th minute, Piht flicked on Ivans Baturins’ long ball into the path of Eerme, who charged into the box. Aleksandr Ivanjushin managed to get a touch, but goalkeeper Aleksei Matrossov failed to secure the ball, leaving Sillamaa with a simple finish into an empty net – 3-1, and game over.
For Harju, the win was more than just three points, they are still in the 8th place in the table, but now are eight points ahead of the 10th place JK Tallinna Kalev, which would mean automatic relegation.
Harju in three days will host FC Kuressaare in another important match, while Narva on the same day will take on Kalju.
