Latvian defender Daniels Nosegbe-Suško and his club FC Samtredia continued their impressive Georgian Cup run with a commanding 3-0 away win over third-tier side Odishi 1919, booking a spot in the quarterfinals.

The 20-year-old made just his second appearance for the Georgian second-division side since joining from Lithuanian top-flight club Džiugas Telšiai earlier this summer. Interestingly, both of his matches so far have come in the domestic cup competition. After helping eliminate Erovnuli Liga giants Dinamo Tbilisi last week, this round saw Samtredia face comparatively easier opposition in Odishi 1919 – one of the frontrunners in Georgia’s third division.

The match remained goalless in the first half, but Samtredia broke the deadlock in the 64th minute. Juba Dvalishvili headed home from a corner to put the visitors ahead.

The lead was doubled just four minutes later, when Costa Rican forward Julen Cordero Gonzalez unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that flew into the near top corner – a stunning strike that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Samtredia sealed the victory deep into stoppage time. Following a quick counter-attack after regaining possession, Argentine attacker Ruben Gauto calmly slotted in the third goal to confirm a comprehensive win and progression to the final eight.

Nosegbe-Suško played the full 90 minutes in what was his second outing since arriving in Georgia.

Attention now turns to league action as the Georgian second division resumes after a two-month break. On August 4, Samtredia will visit Meshakhte Tkibuli. Notably, the hosts recently added Latvian to their squad – 18-year-old Aleksejs Valpēters, a former BFC Daugavpils academy product.
