Latvian national team midfielder Lūkass Vapne has officially become a full-time player for Norwegian second-tier club Sogndal IL, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder initially joined Sogndal on loan in February from FK Metta, with the Norwegian club retaining an option to buy. Today, Sogndal has exercised that option for an undisclosed fee, making Vapne a permanent addition to their squad.

So far this season, Vapne has featured in 13 matches in the Norwegian OBOS-ligaen, contributing two goals and one assist. Sogndal currently sits fifth in the league standings after 13 rounds. The club has been out of Norway’s top division for seven consecutive seasons.

Last season, Vapne impressed while playing for Valmiera FC, tallying 10 goals and 13 assists in 35 matches. He made his debut for the Latvian senior national team in 2024 and has already earned ten caps.

A Virsliga champion with Valmiera FC in 2022, Vapne has played a total of 141 matches in Latvia’s top division, scoring 28 goals and providing 32 assists.
