A Lyga side FC Džiugas Telšiai have confirmed the return of 22-year-old Senegalese centre-back Bacary Sane to the club, just half a year after his departure.
Sane previously made 30 appearances for Džiugas, playing a crucial role in helping the team avoid relegation and reach the Lithuanian Cup semi-finals. In January, he signed with Maltese champions Hamrun Spartans, but failed to make a first-team appearance. Shortly after, he was loaned out to fellow top-flight side Naxxar Lions FC, where he featured in 17 matches and scored two goals.
Now, the Senegalese defender is set for a familiar return, rejoining Džiugas on a permanent deal. Prior to his time in Lithuania, Sane played one season in Latvia with FK Liepāja — his first in European football after making the move from Senegal’s renowned Diambars Academy.
FC Džiugas currently sit sixth in the A Lyga table with 28 points. Their next fixture is scheduled for Sunday, when they visit FK Sūduva in Marijampolė.
