Latvian U-21 national team defender Daniels Nosegbe-Suško made a memorable debut today for Georgian side FC Samtredia, helping them to a surprise 1–0 victory over Georgian top-flight giants Dinamo Tbilisi in the Georgian Cup Round of 32.
The 20-year-old center-back, who joined Samtredia last week after a half-season spell in Lithuania’s A Lyga, played the full 90 minutes in his first appearance for the club. Samtredia had an early chance to take the lead in the 11th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but midfielder Giuli Manjgaladze—who had a brief stint with FK Ventspils in Latvia back in 2018—failed to convert after his effort was saved by the goalkeeper.
However, Samtredia eventually found the breakthrough late in the first half. Argentine import Eric Barrios pounced on a rebound after a teammate’s shot was parried by the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net to make it 1–0.
Despite Dinamo Tbilisi’s efforts to equalize in the second half, Samtredia’s defense held firm, with Nosegbe-Suško putting in a solid shift to help his side keep a clean sheet and secure a stunning victory over one of Georgia’s most storied clubs. His composed performance in central defense was key to Samtredia advancing to the next round.
Samtredia will return to Georgian Cup action next Saturday when they face third-division side Odishi 1919 in the Round of 16.
