Latvian winger Kristaps Grabovskis officially made his debut today for Danish club B.93, who kicked off the new Danish First Division season (second tier) with a 1–1 draw against Hvidovre IF.
The 20-year-old player, who joined the Copenhagen-based club as a free agent on July 1st, was named in the starting lineup and played in his usual position on the left wing.
B.93, the former club of FK Metta’s Grabovskis, took the lead in the 27th minute. Following a quick throw-in that caught the home side’s defense off guard, former Copenhagen FC academy graduate Mikkel Wohlgemuth struck from outside the box to beat the goalkeeper and give the visitors the advantage.
However, the lead was short-lived. Just four minutes later, Hvidovre responded. After a set-piece and a cross to the far post, a home player headed the ball back across goal, where Danish midfielder Ayo Simon Okosun was waiting to tap it in from close range to level the score.
In the second half, Grabovskis registered his first shot in a B.93 shirt, attempting to beat the goalkeeper from approximately 23 meters. His effort took a deflection off a defender, resulting in a corner kick.
Grabovskis played 58 minutes in his debut appearance before being substituted. During his time on the pitch, the young winger showed promising signs and made a positive impression. The score remained unchanged after his substitution, with both teams ultimately sharing the points in this season opener.
B.93 and Grabovskis will return to action next Friday with an away trip to face Lyngby.
