Riga FC’s impressive run of form in June has not gone unnoticed, as both the Player of the Month and Manager of the Month awards head to the league leaders.
Midfield engine Ahmed Ankrah and head coach Adrian Gul’a have been recognized for their standout performances that helped keep Riga FC firmly at the top of the TonyBet Virslīga table.
June was flawless for Riga FC, who went undefeated with four wins in four matches. On the road, they secured crucial victories over FK Grobiņa and FK Auda. At home, they swept past SK Super Nova and also got a statement win in the Rīga derby—defeating defending champions FC RFS.
The derby was particularly significant for Ahmed Ankrah, who scored twice in that high-stakes clash. The midfield dynamo started all four games in June and played a pivotal role in controlling the tempo and driving Riga’s attack. His consistent performances made him the standout among a strong list of nominees that included FK Liepāja’s Bruno Melnis, his own teammate Krišjānis Zviedris, and FC RFS duo Dmitrijs Zelenkovs and Darko Lemajic.
On the sidelines, Adrian Gul’a continues to impress in his debut season in Latvia. The 50-year-old Slovakian tactician picks up his second consecutive Manager of the Month award, having led Riga FC to a commanding position with 55 points after 22 rounds.
