In the Armenian top-flight, Matas Vareika scored once again, but it was not enough to prevent a heavy 1:4 defeat against Urartu.

The 25-year-old Lithuanian winger netted his sixth goal of the season in just eight games, opening the scoring in the 6th minute. However, Urartu took control of the match and, even after receiving a red card at the end of the first half, they went on to score four unanswered goals in the second half. This result marked Pyunik Yerevan’s second consecutive defeat.

Matas played 75 minutes in the match and also received a yellow card. With 47 points after 25 games, Pyunik currently sits in 4th place on the league table. Their next match will be on Wednesday, when they host West Armenia.
