Pärnu JK Vaprus ended their six-match winless run with a 1-0 away victory over Kuressaare in the opening game of Premium Liiga Matchday 8, securing their first win since the league opener on March 7.

The match itself offered limited quality for large periods, with both teams struggling to create clear chances, especially in the first half. Kuressaare looked slightly more comfortable early on, but neither side managed to seriously test the opposing goalkeeper in the opening 45 minutes.

Vaprus had a golden opportunity midway through the first half when a corner found Kevin Aloe, but his effort was cleared off the line by Sten Prunn. Shortly after, Vaprus were awarded a penalty following an incident involving goalkeeper Karl-Romet Nõmm, but after a VAR review, the decision was overturned.

Kuressaare’s best chances in the first half came through Rasmus Talu and Andero Kivi, but both efforts lacked the necessary power to trouble Vaprus goalkeeper Ott Nõmm.

The second half saw a slight increase in intensity, and the decisive moment arrived in the 57th minute. A well-delivered cross from Kevin Aloe found Matthias Limberg in the penalty area, and he rose highest to head the ball into the net, scoring his first goal of the season and giving Vaprus a crucial lead.

Kuressaare pushed for an equaliser late in the match and came close on several occasions. Ott Nõmm was called into action multiple times, including a strong save to deny Talu, while another late effort was also kept out by the Vaprus goalkeeper.

Despite late pressure from the hosts, Vaprus held on to secure all three points and finally end their difficult run of form.

The result lifts some pressure off Vaprus, who had been bottom of the table prior to the match, while Kuressaare remain inconsistent after alternating between wins and defeats in the early part of the season.
